Oscar’s disqualifies “Black Swan” and “True Grit”

Okay, so here it is with no BS! The Oscar’s disqualified movies “Black Swan” and “True Grit” from the Best Original Score category due to “both scores were deemed to depend too much on pre-existing material,” which, in my eyes, makes complete sense. The give away is in the title of the award people. You can’t be an original score if it’s not an ORIGINAL! Don’t be mad. When you write a movie about the ballet “Swan Lake” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, composed in the late 19th century, you’re not going to get the Oscar for best Original Score. When you do a remake of a movie released in the 60’s and use mostly 19th century music, you’re not going to get the Oscar for Original Score.

In closing, to all of those who think these movies were cheated, remember these three very important words. BEST ORIGINAL SCORE.
