CENSORSHIP! Holy Crap… Did I just use a BAD WORD! I did and I know that word because of the Supreme Court and not some TV show I saw on Network TV. Now, this blog is 100% AGAINST Censorship. If you don’t like what is said then avert your eyes or change the webpage. Either way, it’s not going to effect you. And that’s exactly what I would like to say to the Supreme Court and everyone fighting against Fox TV for “indecency.” First off, the shows they’re talking about in this case are Award Shows, NYPD Blue and Saving Private Ryan. Here’s my argument. 1) Award Shows are Awards shows. You tell them not to curse, they do anyway. It’s not the networks fault, it’s the celebrities. Give THEM the fine. 2) NYPD Blue is so old it should fall under some sort of grandfather clause. Really SC? You couldn’t have come up with something better? 3) Saving Private Ryan. It aired on Fox TV. You think soldiers don’t curse during war? Really!? Now that’s just naive. Hell it’s even more indecent for you to think that war is pretty. What’s REALLY indecent is the networks interrupting my prime-time TV watching with some stupid update from the Republican GOP. What’s indecent is making me sit through two different network shows that have are EXACTLY the same, 5 women sitting at a table talking at 2 different times! What’s indecent is the fact the it’s okay to say “bitch” on TV but not “shit” because at least “bitch” could mean they’re talking about a female dog. What’s even more indecent is the PEOPLE of these United States seem to care more about THEMSELVES than their neighbors. All of these are just examples of the REAL indecency in this world. And saying F**K and Shit on TV is not the worst of it.
The general complaint seems to concern the influence of these shows on our children. It’s called CHANGE THE CHANNEL. There are more than enough programs on Network Stations that are “suitable” for both children and adults alike. Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., the father of two young children said, “All we are asking for, what the government is asking for, is a few channels where you … are not going to hear the ‘S-word,’ the ‘F-word.’ [Children] are not going to see nudity.” First off Chief Justice what shows on Fox TV are you talking about? Second off, Chief Justice, why the BLEEP are your BLEEPING kids up passed 8 o’clock anyway! Also you know how almost 80-90% of the households in the US own satellite, well just about all of that percentage has TiVo. Problem solver, RECORD YOUR SHOWS, watch them later! Or even better, TURN THE TV OFF! If you don’t like what’s on it, turn it off. I guarantee that will hurt the networks more than you complaining and slapping them with stupid BLEEPING fines.
At the end of the day what the Supreme Court needs to realize is, children that are raised by a TV are going to be influenced by it. Children that are raised by their parents, will be influenced by them. Children that are raised by a nanny, will be influenced by them. Children that are raised in boarding schools, will be influenced by the students and teachers there. Children that play video games, will be influenced by them. Children that hang on every single BLEEPING word their parents say, will be influenced by them. And children that spend every waking minute of their day at some form of education facility, will be influenced by everyone there. The MORAL of this BLEEPING story is, if they don’t pick it up for TV, they will pick it up somewhere else. You can’t stop reality from happening to your children. The most you can do is prepare them for it.
