Summer TV Shows You Can’t Live Without

While working on the article for fall shows, I realized that there’s an entire three months in between that my loyal friends will need to fill with TV time. Now you can check out some of the returning shows that you love and hold dear to your heart and some new shows that are being brought to life. I gotta say though, I little more excited about my returning shows than the new ones. Click on the hyperlink for all the trailers.

Returning Shows: Episodes (Showtime) Starts July 1st at 10:30/9:30c. Starring Matt LeBlanc as Matt LeBlanc. I have to admit, I was a little nervous about this show when it first aired but I also have to admit that LeBlanc is just hard NOT to watch. So last season ended with a bunch of blowout arguments. This season starts four months later. Sean and Bev are separated but still work together. Pucks! does well in its premiere while the second weeks ratings start to cause some problems. Stephen Mangan and Tamsin Greig also star.

Franklin and Bash (TNT) Starts June 5th at 10/9c. THE BOYS ARE BACK! Starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer as best friends and attorney’s Jared and Peter. I’ve been waiting for this show since the season end-er last summer because of the wonderful witty and outwardly funny dripping sarcasm this entire cast brings to the plate every episode. Last we saw, Jared and Peter saved Infeld from going to jail for murder. This season brings awesome guest stars Jane Seymour (as Peter’s mom), Beau Bridges (as Jared’s father), Kat Foster, Shiri Appleby and Cybill Shepard.

Leverage (TNT) Starts July 15th 8/7c. Returning for the 5th season of this absolutely engaging show are Timothy Hutton, Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, Beth Riesgraf and Aldis Hodge.  Last we saw, the gang walked away from the water filtration system as Latimer and Dubenich killed each other. Unfortunately, there isn’t any trailer out right now for the show but we do know that for the season opener Cary Elwes (best known for role in Princess Bride) will guest star as the episodes villain.

True Blood (HBO) Starts June 10th at 9/8c. I would love to list everyone that stars in this show but seriously, that list could do on forever (no pun intended). So this season puts the vampire up against the Vampire Authority. The even better news, Christopher Meloni and Carolyn Hennesy are both members of said Authority. We’re also gonna see Eric’s vampire sister Nora, and Terry’s old war buddy Patrick, played by Scott Foley.

Web Therapy (Showtime) Starts July 2nd at 10/9c. Starring Lisa Kudrow as web therapist Fiona Wallice. This is another I couldn’t find a trailer for the new season for. However, I do know that the series is going into bring another FRIENDS cast member. David Schwimmer will guest star as a patient who’s trying to overcome the trauma of witnessing a romantic encounter between his dad and Fiona.

New Shows: Perception (TNT) Starts July 9th at 10/9c. Starring Eric McCormack as Prof. Daniel Pierce. Rachael Leigh Cook, Arjay Smith and Kelly Rowan also star. I gotta say, you should check out the trailer. It seems to have both intense and witty dialogue. As Arjay Smith says, tv and education is always a good thing.

Baby Daddy (ABC Family) Starts June 20th 8:30/7:30c. Starring Jean-Luc Bilodeu as new daddy Ben. Basically his former girlfriend leaves her baby girl on his doorstep and now he’s caught having to raise the baby with his friends and family. Melissa Peterman, Derek Theler, Tahj Mowry, and Chelsea Kane also star.

Common Law (USA) Started May 11th 10/9c. Starring Michael Ealy and Warren Kole as “odd couple” detective partners. Any trailer that starts with detectives in a couples counseling office has my vote to be both dramatic and hysterical. By the end of the trailer, you’ll be surprised to see how this partnership seems to be ripping at the seams.

Longmire (A&E) Starts June 3rd at 10/9c. Starring Robert Taylor as newly widowed Walt Longmire. Katee Sackhoff, Cassidy Freeman, and Bailey Chase also star. A&E has this amazing capability of always coming up with shows that will grace us with their presence and become an immediate addition. This one has it’s high points and I think A&E might just have another hit on their hands.

The Newsroom (HBO) Starts June 24th 10/9c. Starring Jeff Daniels as TV news anchor Will McAvoy. Emily Mortimer, Alison Pill, John Gallagher Jr., Olivia Munn, Dev Patel, Thomas Sadoski, Sam Waterston and Jane Fonda also star. HBO is doing it again. This one will smack you in the face as soon as you push play on the trailer. Check it out.
